Deliver ERP Rollout Projects in Latin America, via Mexico
Add Mexico's operational capabilities in days and setup a PMO temporary presence for the duration of the projects in Latin America.
Add regional ERP support (AMS/Helpdesk) for the countries running the new solution, as an extension to the CoE.
LATAM Rollout
Latin America Rollout Projects & Local Support
System Integrators, IT Service Providers and ERP Implementation Partners often follow their global customers into new regions when implementing or upgrading enterprise applications. These projects can run for years, but they are still temporary. Opening a legal entity for one is premature until you know whether the region is a market worth committing to.
In addition, when the projects end, the global customer will require local support for the countries with the new solution running. The System Integrator will be required to add this specialized ERP support — language, localization and local compliance — to its global support services.
The Model
How a temporary LATAM delivery team works
A temporary operation, in weeks
Subsidiary-as-a-Service establishes a local presence in Mexico that acts as the Project Management Office for the rollout, with temporary teams added in selected South American countries as the project requires.
Pay per use (similar to AWS)
Shared infrastructure and group economies of scale, rather than a fixed cost structure sized for a project that ends.
Scale following revenue, not before it
Open a legal entity when the region justifies one, and keep an agile operation in the meantime.
Local Staffing
Local staffing, without handing over your client to a competitor
Staffing a rollout in-region usually comes down to two options. Both carry the same risk.
They find the consultants, and in the process they learn who your client is, what the project is worth and when the contract ends. Placing people into accounts is their business, so you have made your client visible to a company with a reason to pursue it.
Faster to mobilise, and sometimes the only option at short notice. But you have introduced your client to a firm that implements the same software you do, in the market where that client now operates. Some of those relationships do not come back.
We recruit, employ and host the local team. We are a back office and operations company, enabling the IT Industry start and run their own regional operations. This is why we are preferred by small to large SAP, Microsoft, Salesforce, and Oracle Partners.
ERP & Enterprise Applications
ERP and Enterprise Applications implemented in the region
Rollout projects our clients implement typically involve SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and others. We enable ERP partners to build temporary or permanent operations in the region. We provide expert talent from our vetted database, to build the best local team possible, including the local logistics and presence that might be needed.
Consultants who have done this before in-region. Mexican and Latin American invoicing, tax and payroll requirements, the local compliance rules each country applies to the new system, so the project does not absorb the learning curve.
Customer Examples
Global IT consulting and enterprise technology company
Needed to add capabilities to deliver an SAP Rollout Project for two years in Latin America to upgrade the systems of their global customer.
Opted to use the SUBaaS approach, implemented a Project Management Office in Mexico, added already vetted bilingual ERP consultants with localization know-how, divided by Latin America region. After the project ended successfully, built a local support team for the region, working with their global AMS Center.
Post-Rollout
What happens to regional ERP support when the rollout ends?
Once the new system goes live, the global customer needs support in every country where it is running, in the local language and with knowledge of local compliance rules. For the System Integrator that is a permanent regional obligation attached to a project that has already finished, in countries with no local entity and no local team.
The usual options each cost something:
- Absorb it into the global support centre. Faster, but the people answering do not speak the language or know the local tax, invoicing and statutory requirements the new system has to satisfy. New team should be hired for each country, which would be hard to find.
- Subcontract country by country. A different vendor in each market, each with its own contract, and business practices for SLA and escalation path. Highest risk, because it could mean inviting a competitor with your client.
- Open a local entity for it. A permanent structure for a support function that may never generate enough revenue to justify one.
There is a fourth option. Using the as-a-Service framework to build a scalable local team for AMS and helpdesk team. Continuity from key people from the ERP implementation and custom localization knowledge, already familiar with the client and the implementation. Scaled down to what the support contract actually needs, and scaled back up when a new project demands it.
